Specializing in Anxiety and Christian Counseling for Women, Teen Girls and Children

- Hoffman Estates and Online in Illinois

At Rooted Hope Counseling, we do not define hope as a synonym for “wishing” (as in, I hope it does not rain today), but rather as a confident expectation of good to come based on something solid and reliable. That is what Rooted Hope Counseling specializes in.  Hope.  Overcoming challenges and shining the light of truth onto the lies we have come to believe that create, perpetuate, and exacerbate life’s anxieties and hurts and rob us of the hope that things could ever be different.  Hope is not just wishing or positive thinking.

THERE IS REAL HOPE.

Owner

Kirsten Edwards is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18 years of clinical experience working in the school system, for a large Christian mental health agency, and in private practice. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2006 with a Master’s degree in Social Work.

Kirsten has a passion for helping women and girls understand their incredible value and worth and supporting those who feel anxious, stressed, weary, weighed down, and running on empty.  Additionally, she loves finding fun and engaging ways to connect with teens and children of all ages, as well as helping parents problem-solve challenges and identify simple, intentional changes that can help them build strong, positive relationships with their children and increase peace within their family.

She also enjoys walking alongside clients who find themselves in a place of spiritual questioning or who would like to explore issues of faith.  Kirsten enjoys incorporating art and other types of creative expression in the therapy process as well (for those who are interested, of course).

Kirsten’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and relational. She begins by listening and asking questions to make sure she understands what her clients hope to gain through treatment and then works with them to develop a clear path toward meeting their goals. Kirsten always wants her clients to feel empowered and supported in responding to new challenges from week to week and confident that they are steadily moving toward their larger goals.

An Update from The Owner:

Having a conversation with your therapist about your goals early on is important to make sure that you feel comfortable with their ability to help you. This is true in all situations, and absolutely applies to those who are seeking faith-based support. It is crucial to establish a mutual understanding at the beginning of treatment to ensure that the therapeutic approach being used respects your personal values and spiritual beliefs. If you are not clear on the values and principles driving the support you are receiving, you may not end up at the destination you want. If you have any reservations, an open conversation at the beginning of therapy or as soon as an issue presents itself is the best way to make sure your therapist is a good fit and therapy has the best chance of success.
